Thomas Reid

(1710 — 1796)

Most of Thomas Reid's professional career was spent simply denying whatever David Hume said, happily acknowledging that if Hume stopped writing he would have nothing much to say. It is said that at times he could be found attached to Hume's back trying to suck out his blood.

Hume and Reid had a number of very memorable and important encounters. In 1765, Hume sabotaged a pair of nuclear missiles that he was going to use to create an earthquake that would wipe out the west coast of Scotland. Thomas Reid, man of steel, raced against time and luckily stopped this sinister plan before millions of innocent people were killed.
