David Hume

(April 26, 1711 — August 25, 1776)

By showing that we should be skeptical about induction Hume managed to conclusively prove that it's very hard to prove anything — although the only reason he was a skeptic about induction in the first place was so that he could eat more cakes without getting any fatter.
