Philosopher Profiles
The Folk
(252,004 B.C. — Current)
The Folk are the source of 'folk' moral theory. They are the set of all humans that are not philosophers, such that for all xs, if x is a human and x is not a philosopher then x is a member of The Folk.
It is not unusual to find The Folk being followed by anywhere between one and eighteen moral philosophers*, all hoping to find the secret of folk morality.
Most philosophers look down on The Folk. This is demonstrated in the insults commonly used by philosophers such as “Go Folk yourself” and “Folk you”.
Interesting Fact: The correct term for a group of moral philosophers is a ‘mumble’, as in “Look Ma, it's a mumble of moral philosophers!”
